The Dangers of Keeping Your Feelings to Yourself

Hi there, I am finally back after 12 days. Been busy... with right things of course!

I have been talking and helping different ones and came across people who keep feelings to themselves. I am pretty concerned So I went to search information on it.

There are often times when shouting your feelings at the top of your lungs is not such a good idea (for example, during a talk with your boss or at a wedding when it is announced, “If there are any objections speak now or forever hold your peace”). But there are also times when sharing your feelings is essential to your very health and wellbeing. If you are not sharing as a way of suppressing what you feel, medical science now agrees that this causes or magnifies many illnesses by interfering with your body's natural defense system. Suppression on an emotional level tends to bottle you up and cause you a lot of unnecessary tension, stress and distress. Suppressing feelings during arguments, a practice known as “self-silencing,” has been linked to other risks as well, including depression, eating disorders and heart disease.

Ironically, most people try to suppress their emotions to make themselves feel better, but what usually ends up happening is that you feel worse. Keeping your emotions bottled up turns you into a human pressure cooker. In order to keep the lid on your feelings, it takes up all of your energy. And you can’t possibly keep everything inside forever, so eventually you blow up, losing your temper with your family or in public over something small and trivial. Then, in an attempt to regain control, you suppress those feelings as well, fueling a never-ending cycle of all-consuming negativity. We all have negative emotions swirling around our heads. Whether from an argument, a trauma, a loss, a mistake or any other difficult situation, it doesn’t matter; negative feelings are the same no matter what their cause.

You may be tempted to push these feelings aside so you don’t have to feel them, but while this may work temporarily, the feelings are still there. This means they will resurface when you least expect it, in the form of anxiety, anger, rage, depression, fatigue, an inability to concentrate, or any number of other manifestations. When you let go of your emotions, a host of good things happen. Suddenly, you have a lot more free space to feel good things, and the bad things that have been weighing you down are no longer using up your energy. You have, instead, become free.

If you are willing to release whatever you are feeling and then share what you feel when appropriate, you will feel a lot better both physically and emotionally.

This is so true... For the Word of God says in 3 John 2,
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your SOUL prospers."

Friends, to the degree your SOUL (mind, emotions, will) prosper, that will be degree you prosper in your BODY and ALL THINGS!

Happy Mother's Day

To all the mothers, Happy Mother"s Day!

How did you spend your day with your mum today? Hope it was fruitful and spent some quality time with her today. Well, i did today.

I invited mum out for her favorite high tea buffet. Kai Kong invited his mum too. We ate and we talked. Mum had a great time catching up with mum-in-law. Guess what? They shared about their growing up years, marriage life and difficulities in raising up their children, all in the span of 2.5 hours! Amazing! I enjoyed hearing their stories.

I don't think I am biased, but i truly believe that my mum is the best mother in the whole world! Now, she is not perfect. Well, none of us is. However, my mum is one of God's best gift for my life, and let me tell you, she is a very AMAZING woman. Let me share with you .......

1) She NEVER falls sick ( sometimes i wonder is she a "Super-woman")
2) She is VERY patient ( she doesn't scream at her grandchildren no matter how naughty they are)
3) She ALWAYS believe in me ( at least for me, she has been very supportive n whatever i do)
4) She is HIGHLY RESILENT ( pardon me, if there is no such word to describe. But she went through a lot, but she never thought of walking away )
5) She has HIGH tolerance ( no worry if you step on her toes. She will smile at you and says, "It is ok.")
6) She is EXTRAVAGANT in her love ( she never stops giving. Giving her love, her time, her wisdom, her energy and her finances )
7) She is ACTIVE ( she takes care of 6 active grandchildren from age 1 to 7, she is an active volunteer in civil defence, she climbed 14 flights of stairs and won 1st prize, and she jogs regularly )
8) She is VERY sacrificial ( she always esteems others better than herself, putting others first )

You see, I never quite appreciate my mum when i was growing up, i think I took her for granted. Until...... I become a mother myself. I guess it takes a mother to understand a mother. Motherhood is really no easy task. And it cannot be taught. Because no 2 children are the same! Motherhood is a responsibilty, that if you are given it, it is irresponsible if you choose to walk away. Motherhood is calling, a sacred calling to be exact, that we as mothers should seek to fulfill with God's help.

Today, i am very thankful for who my mum is, all that she has done for me, and her great love for me. It inspires me to be the same to my children and others!

From the bottom of my heart, I love you, Mummy!

Hello!

Hi there! I am finally going to get started on blogging! Yipee!!!!! I have been wanting to do this for months, since last year, but didn't really quite get it done. I have people asking when they can start reading my blog, well, it is finally here. Hope you will enjoying reading in the days to come.
I just reached home about an hour ago. The first thing i did when i stepped into the house is to go to the children"s room. Oh, how they sleep like angels. Wish I can wake them up and talk to them, and ask Ann-ya how her day has been. You see, everytime i tried to call her while I am at work, wanting to talk to her, she will be more excited to play with cousins than to talk to me on the phone! She plays with her cousins every Monday to Wednesday, on Thursday and Friday she will be with Grandpa and Grandma while I am at work.
Ann-ya and her cousins will play anything and everything. They go to the playground. They sing songs and dance together. Sometimes they make funny faces and laugh at each other's silly expressions. They do role playing like parents and children, doctor and patients, teacher and students etc. They ride bicycles. They draw together. They play play-doh. They read books together. Children are so spontaneous, imaginative and carefree!
Each time when i see my children, i am reminded to have a childlike faith in God. Sometimes the longer a person has been a Christian, the more we think we know it all, and have it all. How untrue it is! There is so much we can discover about our Daddy God. Children are iniquisitive. I want to be the same towards Daddy God. Children loves to sit on the lap of their parents. I want to sit on the lap of Daddy God. Children loves to snuggle up to their parents" beds. I want to love to rest in Daddy God. Children gets excited when they see their parents coming home from work. I want to get excited about comong home to Daddy God everyday. The list goes on and on. You see, as much as the children need to learn from us as adults, the adults also have much to learn from the children!
Have a great week ahead!
